From 1 January to 31 December 2018 at various locations in Brussels.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of May 68, the City of Brussels organizes 2018. Year of the Protest. For the first time, all Brussels cultural institutions are brought together around a common cultural project: a theme year. In the participating locations and in the public space, dozens of activities take place around the theme of contestation. It is not the intention to give a historical overview, but to find out what contestation means today, across different disciplines (dance, circus, theatre, youth theatre, contemporary art, screenings, installations,...), in dialogue with institutions, artists and audience.
The activities of the theme year can be recognized by a logo on which three symbols of May 68 are depicted: a pamphlet, a cobblestone and a raised fist.
