Central Station reconstruction and surroundings
What is it about?
The Central Station metro station will change completely in the coming years. At the end of the works, which started on 1 March 2022, the station will have a completely different face. The works will be carried out in phases to minimize nuisance and never interrupt the metro.

What purpose?
The aim of the thorough renovation of the Central Station metro station is to meet the current needs of travelers. The station is no longer just a transit point, but a real lively space. The emphasis is on modernising, increasing the amount of space and light, improving the flow, comfort and accessibility.
Surrounding streets and connecting upper and lower city
As soon as the STIB works on the station are completed, the City of Brussels will start with the reconstruction of the adjacent axes:
