Alderwoman of Urban Revitalization and Citizen Participation.
Clémentine Barzin was born on 20 November 1974. From Namur she came to the capital to take a Master in Journalism and Communication at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Since 2006 she lives in the Saint-Géry district in the heart of Brussels.
During her professional career she mainly worked on communication in various liberal cabinets. She was also press officer for Thalys International and the Dutch-language PR office Force.
After twelve years of dedication to the City of Brussels, first as a council member of the Social Action, then as a member of the City Council and the Police Council, she became Alderwoman of Urban Revitalization and Citizen Participation on 26 February 2018.
She also shows her strong involvement in the City as a director at the Foyer Laekenois and the 'Agence immobilière sociale de Bruxelles' (Social Real Estate Office in Brussels). Because culture is close to her heart as well, she is also a director at the Monnaie Theatre and the Centre Culturel des Riches Claires. Since November 2017 she is chairman of MAD, Fashion & Design Brussels, which wants to support stylists and designers and to promote Brussels, both City and Region, as a creative hub.
Her passions: first of all the bicycle, which she rides daily through the streets of Brussels, swimming, walking in nature, the pleasures of the City with its concerts, exhibitions, good restaurants and finally... her little cat.
