Adaptation of the road permit for electric cars

The City of Brussels is adapting the municipal road permit for the arrival of electric charging stations. The switch to vehicles without exhaust gases is important to improve air quality.

On 20 April 2017, the Brussels Capital Region announced it wanted 200 charging points for electric vehicles on its public roads. The City of Brussels is therefore modernizing its road permit for the installation, operation and maintenance of parking spaces with charging points for electrically powered vehicles.

Quality requirements have been set for companies that want to install charging stations. For example, they are responsible for the continuous management, operation and maintenance of the charging stations and associated parking spaces. The operators are also responsible for the cleaning and possible replacements of the charging stations.
