From 3 December 2010 to 31 December 2011 at the Museum of the City of Brussels - Maison du Roi.
Exhibition Brussels in watercolor, a snapshot 1894-1897, Jacques Carabain. Before the time of photography, artists were invited to make a portrait of the city.
Between 1894 and 1897 the painter Jacques Carabain made 59 watercolor paintings of Brussels: ancient neighborhoods, many small passages, an international port and industry within the city walls.
The evolution of the sites and the life in Brussels until today is shown with:
- old images
- plans and photographs of the current situation
The exhibition catalog is available on the spot.
Opening hours
- Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am to 5 pm
- closed on Mondays and 1/1, 1/5, 1/11, 11/11 and 25/12
