From 6 July to 27 August 2022 at the Tour à Plomb cultural and sports centre.
The group exhibition Local Fictions brings together nine young artists of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, who were invited to reflect on the work of narration, memory and local histories, both real and fictional.
Taking as their starting point the proximity missions of the Tour à Plomb cultural and sports centre, the invited artists explored the surroundings of the centre, walking through the neighbourhood and meeting its inhabitants. The issues they identified were echoed differently by each artist, depending on their medium, their relationship to fiction and their own experiences of the places and the people who frequent them.
Whether through photography, textiles, drawing, video, sound or text, the artists sought to appropriate and shape the stories that bring our neighbourhoods to life.
