Coronavirus measures

The City of Brussels has taken several decisions in order to best respect the measures of the federal government in the fight against the coronavirus (Covid-19). More info: coronavirus measures by the City of Brussels.

Keep your bulky waste at home for now!

Due to the effects of the coronavirus, the Public Cleaning Service is currently working with fewer staff. As soon as the measures have been lifted, bulky waste collections will be organized in the various districts of the City. In the meantime, you are asked to keep your bulky waste at home.

The Cleaning Service is currently working with fewer staff because of the reduced number of people using the municipal roads, the closure of the markets, the end of events... This measure also enables the service to respect the recommended measures of social distance as much as possible. For example, the number of agents present in the depots (particularly the changing rooms) is being reduced.

Increase in illegal dumping

Teams for the collection of waste were halved. This makes it possible to empty the public garbage cans and sweep the streets. However, an increase in illegal dumping is currently being observed. On 24 March 2020 alone, almost 8 tonnes of illegal dumping was collected.
