Laeken winner of the 'Hidden Treasures' campaign
Nearly 10 million lamps and light fixtures were collected by the Belgians in 2018. To reward that, Recupel launched a campaign in which every Belgian could identify his or her 'hidden treasures': beautiful but undervalued places that deserve to be put in the spotlight. 'Memory of Expo 58' in Laeken was one of the winners.
A total of 249 hidden pearls were sent in between 21 October and 17 November 2019. A professional jury chose the most beautiful and technically feasible projects. 'Memory of Expo 58' (Place Saint-Lambert in Laeken), presented by the Triangle neighborhood committee, was one of the 10 winners.
With a well-placed spot that can already be seen, Recupel brings 'Memory of Expo 58' to the attention of residents and passers-by. The lighting used is energy efficient (only LED lamps) and made in Belgium.

'Memory of Expo 58' is unknown but not unloved in the neighborhood. The External site Triangle Houba-Sobieski-Heysel neighborhood committee has been trying for several years to give this hidden treasure the attention it deserves. They responded to the Recupel project call.
