Redevelopment works at the Rue Sainte-Catherine

The project involves the redevelopment of the Rue Sainte-Catherine as far as the Rue de Flandres and the Rue Melsens. With these works, the City of Brussels wants to completely redevelop the street into a pedestrian zone and make it as green as possible. The works started on 6 February 2023 and are divided into several phases.

Most of the Rue Sainte-Catherine has been completed.

The paving of phase 7a (near the Noordzee, see plan) will be completed on 30 August and traffic will reopen on 4 September.

Works on the junction between the Rue Sainte-Catherine and Rue des Poissonniers will start on 4 September and will be completed by 20 September. During this period, a bollard will be installed.

Works on the passageway between the Place Sainte-Catherine and Place du Vieux Marché aux Grains are scheduled to run from 18 September to 13 October.

The entire redevelopment of the Rue Sainte-Catherine is scheduled for completion at the end of November, when the junction with the Rue Melsens will be completed.
