Redevelopment works at the Rue Sainte-Catherine
The project involves the redevelopment of the Rue Sainte-Catherine as far as the Rue de Flandres and the Rue Melsens. With these works, the City of Brussels wants to completely redevelop the street into a pedestrian zone and make it as green as possible. The works started on 6 February 2023 and are divided into several phases.
Since 22 May 2023, the contractor has begun works on the central lane of the street. These interventions are concentrated on the north-western part of the street at the Place Sainte-Catherine side and are planned to last for a month and a half, subject to favourable weather conditions.
Accessibility
The City is doing its utmost to guarantee the passage of pedestrians, cyclists, people with reduced mobility and access to shops during the works.
For deliveries, access will be via the Rue de la Vierge Noire (entrance and exit), and the Rue Sainte-Catherine will be a dead end towards the Place Sainte-Catherine.
