Registration of voters for the European elections
Citizens of an EU member state who are entered in the population registers of a Belgian municipality may register on the electoral roll for the European elections of 9 June 2024. Deadline for the registration: 31 March 2024.
Belgians (18+) registered in the population register of a Belgian municipality do not have to register for the elections. They are automatically registered on the electoral roll for all elections.

Five conditions must be met:
- Holding the nationality of a member state of the European Union
- Having a main residence in a Belgian municipality
- Being at least 16 years old
- Having the right to vote
- Being registered on the electoral roll (minimum age for registration: 14 years)
Once your application has been accepted, you are legally obliged to participate in the European elections and, if the electoral conditions are still met, in subsequent elections, unless you remove yourself from the electoral roll the day after the elections. Failure to fulfil your electoral obligations may result in sanctions. Remember to complete a proxy form if necessary.
If you have already done so in previous European elections and if you still meet the other electoral requirements, you do not need to reapply and will receive your invitation to vote.
Voting is a one-off event: if you decide to exercise your right to vote in Belgium, you will no longer be able to exercise it in the state of which you are a national for this type of election.
