Register a tourist accommodation

The operation of a tourist accommodation (hotel, guest room, youth hostel or lodging with the resident) may be allowed under certain conditions.

The first condition is registering your accommodation with Brussels Economy and Employment:

As part of this registration, the City of Brussels issues the following 2 certificates, which must be sent to Brussels Economy and Employment:

This certificate (attestation) must be requested from the administration as a priority, as it determines the rest of the registration procedure. At this stage, the administration checks that the proposed tourist accommodation activity complies with the various urban planning regulations in force on the territory of the City of Brussels.

The request must be sent:

  • by registered letter, to the following address: City of Brussels, Urban Development Department, Rue des Halles 4 - 1000 Brussels.
  • At the same time, a copy of your file may be sent to the following e-mail address: urb.controle@brucity.be

Your file will only be considered complete if the application form is correctly filled in and the plans of the property in which the tourist accommodation will be operated are attached.

A handling fee of 300 euros will be charged for each application.

To ensure compliance with safety standards in tourist lodgings on the territory of the City of Brussels, operators must apply for a fire safety certificate, to be renewed every 5 years.

Tourist accommodation with a capacity of less than 10 persons

You operate a tourist accommodation with a capacity of less than 10 persons:

In this case, your application form must be accompanied by inspection certificates of your electrical, gas and heating installations delivered by a recognised body and dating from less than 2 years ago.

Tourist accommodation with a capacity of 10 persons or more

You operate a tourist accommodation with a capacity of 10 persons or more:

In this case, you must send us your application form so that we can arrange a visit to your accommodation by the Brussels Capital Region Fire and Emergency Medical Aid Department (SIAMU). After this visit, the SIAMU will draw up a report that will serve as the basis for our fire safety certificate.

The application must be sent:

  • by registered letter addressed to the Mayor at the following address: Brucity Administrative Centre, Rue des Halles 4 - 1000 Brussels.
  • At the same time, a copy of your file may be sent to the following e-mail address: urb.controle@brucity.be

Your application will only be considered complete if the application form is correctly completed.

A handling fee of 125 euros will be charged for any request for a fire safety check (fewer than 10 people), and 500 euros for any request concerning fire compliance (more than or equal to 10 people).
