New tram at Neder-Over-Heembeek

The regional and municipal authorities want more efficient public transport on the territory of the City of Brussels. This also includes a better tram connection between the city centre and Neder-Over-Heembeek. The City of Brussels, the Brussels Capital Region and the STIB transport company have presented the route of the new tram at Neder-Over-Heembeek.

This policy objective was the subject of a technical study that analyzes and compares the impact, advantages and disadvantages of different modes of transport. Another component was determining the most suitable route for the tram. That is why an online survey was published.

The route of the new tram line will connect Neder-Over-Heembeek to the Place Rogier:

In order to make the tram a success for all users, the City of Brussels has set up a citizens' panel to supervise the study of the project (together with the region, the municipalities and citizens). 8 representatives were selected for the Advisory Committee.

43 quality applications were sent to the City of Brussels. 8 representatives were selected on the basis of their profile. This selection was made on the basis of 4 criteria: place of residence, means of transport, age and gender.
