European parking card for disabled and registration

Since 8 July 2023, a new rule has been in force for holders of a European parking card for people with disabilities and their accompanying persons. Vehicle registration is now compulsory in order to retain free parking in the Brussels-Capital Region.

There are several ways to register with the City of Brussels:

Option A: permanent registration

You always use the same vehicle: permanent registration by e-mail or at the counter is possible. More info:

Option B: temporary registration

You use different vehicles: temporary registration via the 4411 application or by SMS to 4411 is possible. More info:

Option C (A + B): permanent and temporary registration

You mainly use the same vehicle, but sometimes change it. You can combine permanent AND temporary registration.

For example: you have permanently registered your own vehicle because you use it every week. The day your friend picks you up with her car, you can temporarily register your friend's vehicle via the 4411 application.

The Handicontact Service of the City of Brussels can help you with these procedures:

Please note:

Even if the vehicle and the European parking card for people with disabilities are registered, the European parking card for people with disabilities must always be affixed centrally and visibly against the inside of the vehicle's windscreen.
