The territory of the City of Brussels is home to the seats of the most important European institutions (European Commission and Council of the European Union). International institutions and companies are also located in Brussels.
Brussels is also an international city. The history of the city, its architectural heritage, its cultural life, its shops and restaurants attract tourists of many countries.

In 2015, the City of Brussels will again support initiatives led by local associations within International Solidarity. The forms for obtaining grants are only available in Dutch and French.
On Thursday 12 February 2015 an extraordinary meeting of the Heads of state and Government of the European Union will be held in Brussels in the buildings of the Council of the European Union, at the Rue de la Loi. A safety zone will be set up. Only authorized persons can enter this zone on foot.
On 12 February 2015, from 9 am to 4 pm, Manneken-Pis will dress as a Serbian.
Manneken-Pis, the symbol of Brussels folklore, gets a costume at major events. On 12 February he celebrates the national holiday of Serbia (15 February).
On 23 February 2015, from 9 am to 6 pm, Manneken-Pis will wear the costume of Peru as part of the Days of Latin America and the Caribbean in Brussels.
On 27 February 2015, from 9 am to 4 pm, Manneken-Pis wears his costume of the Dominican Republic.
