Proliferation, 2022
Artist: Elodie Antoine

1978, Belgium. Lives and works in Brussels.

Large golden drops seem to be forming on the ceiling, organically unfolding into the space. Their colour changes throughout the day depending on the light. They are made of metallised textile stretched over a soft sculpted structure - textile being the artist's favourite material.

Created in situ for the council room, this contemporary work follows the traditional code of using gold on top of important city buildings. The view from the council room thus reveals the golden spire of the Grand-Place, as well as the Palace of Justice.
