The Gardener of the Grand-Place

This event has already passed

From Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 March 2019, from 10 am to 5 pm, at the Grand-Place.

On the occasion of the publication of his story Le Jardinier de la Grand-Place, Jean-Louis Van Malder is exceptionally back at the Grand Place in Brussels with his plant and flower stall. Passers-by can discover a range of particularly special plants and flowers because the stall will look like a 19th-century one. The opportunity is offered to discover the book External site Le Jardinier de la Grand-Place and go home with a flower, a plant or a shrub.

Jean-Louis Van Malder comes from a family of 5 generations of horticulturists and has worked on this market since his childhood. Every day before sunrise he accompanied his parents, after which he succeeded them. Over the years, he became the last gardener-flower grower on the Grand-Place. He witnessed the disappearance of one of the liveliest markets in the City.
