'Girls Make The City' podcasts
In 2022, the City of Brussels launched a call for projects on gender and urban planning. One of the winning projects was Girls Make The City by the non-profit organisation ZIJkant and Wetopia.
The idea of Girls Make The City was to talk to 25 young women with very different interests and backgrounds about a piece of Brussels they share: the skate park at the Chapel Church and its surroundings, and together think about how their city could become a more inclusive place.
Gender and public space
The women's proposals were turned into recommendations for city planners and a team of architects got to work on some ideas. The project also led to 4 podcasts in which Elena Dikomitis highlights, through bilingual portraits, the major themes that emerged during the project.
