Smoke detectors mandatory in Brussels from 2025

From January 2025, smoke detectors will be compulsory in all homes in the Brussels Capital Region. But don't wait until then because they protect you in case of fire.

Nowadays, fires spread so quickly that they can be fatal within 3 minutes. Smoke detectors make it possible to detect a fire faster, increasing the chances of survival.

That is why smoke detectors will be compulsory in all homes in the Brussels Region from January 2025.

Where to install smoke detectors?

The new regulations determine where smoke detectors must be installed in a home, the requirements they must meet, when a central detection system must be installed and the obligations of tenants and landlords regarding smoke detectors:
