Bonus for textile alternatives to terrace heaters (Horeca)

The City of Brussels is offering hotel, restaurant and cafe (Horeca) owners a premium for the purchase of textile alternatives (plaids, blankets, heating pads,...) to patio or terrace heaters.

This premium allows traders to cope with the energy crisis. The premium is a result of the Brussels Capital Government Decree of 15 December 2022 establishing temporary measures to reduce the demand for gas and electricity in the context of the energy crisis. In particular, it prohibits the use of heating or air-conditioning systems, which consume electricity or gas and operate outside a building.

The premium will be granted to any natural or legal person operating a hotel, restaurant or cafe in the City of Brussels, which has an outdoor terrace and has made investments to make textile alternatives available to customers.

Amount of the bonus?

For the purchase of textile alternatives to terrace heaters without energy consumption, the amount of the municipal subsidy is set at 100% of the purchase price up to a maximum of 400 euros per establishment with an authorised terrace of 50 m² or less, and up to a maximum of 600 euros per establishment with an authorised terrace of more than 50 m².

For the purchase of textile alternatives to terrace heaters with energy consumption (electric via battery), the amount of the municipal subsidy is set at 50% of the purchase price up to a maximum of 400 euros per establishment with an authorised terrace of 50 m² or less, and up to a maximum of 600 euros per establishment with an authorised terrace of more than 50 m².
