This event has already passed
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the City of Brussels is organising a new awareness campaign called 'Agir avant le pire - Do something before it's too late!' at the Carrefour de l'Europe.
Portraits of women murderers
Eighty portraits of women murderers will be on display. Each portrait will indicate where and how the perpetrator killed his partner.
This initiative aims to place the responsibility back on the perpetrators, do away with the idea of 'passionate drama' or 'isolated news item' and point out a harsh reality: since 2017, 254 women have been murdered in Belgium by their partner, ex-partner or a man in their close circle.
Although numerous associations already provide indispensable support to victims today, this campaign aims above all to highlight another crucial aspect: working with the men who committed violence to prevent recidivism and break the cycle of toxic masculinity that leads to femicide.
Lecture 'Agir avant le pire'
The day before, on Monday 24 November, a lecture will also be held at the City Hall of Brussels:
Lecture 'Agir avant le Pire. Briser le continuum des violences sexistes'
