'Leçon de Mode' is a collaboration between the Fashion & Lace Museum and MAD Brussels - Fashion and Design Centre to promote fashion knowledge among the general public and professionals.
In this Leçon de Mode, Salomé Dudemaine and Julien Sanders explore their new approach to the history of fashion houses, focusing on the study of different types of clothing labels. By analysing a small piece of fabric hidden in the lining of a garment, the commercial and industrial history of fashion can be traced. Revealing the evolutions of the fashion system and the development of a real industry at the turn of the 20th century. We also get an insight into the production process behind a collection, thanks to recordings of meetings with the people who have worked behind the scenes of fashion for years.
