The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) is applied in Brussels since 1 January 2018. This measure prohibits certain vehicles to drive in Brussels. From 1 January 2026, all EURO 5 diesel and EURO 2 petrol vehicles (cars, vans, buses, lorries), as well as petrol motorcycles, that no longer meet at least the EURO 3 standard, will no longer be allowed to drive in the Brussels Region.

Motorists who break the law and are flashed will first receive a warning letter. They will then have 3 months to comply: the first fine of 350 euros will only be sent 3 months after the first offence (date of the flash).
