What is it about?
Located in the Quais neighbourhood, the Square Marguerite Duras is being redeveloped in a project through a participatory process. The square will retain its existing greenery, to which will be added 9 new trees and low plantings with a view to demineralising the area.
The central part of the square will be converted into a pedestrian promenade bordered by green spaces, featuring a range of urban amenities such as:
- A 1,300 m² play area (accessible to children, adults and people with reduced mobility)
- A 400 m² area for dogs
- A drinking water fountain (also designed for dogs)
- A public toilet
- An area dedicated to relaxation
- Benches to relax and meet people
The parking spaces along the Quai au Bois de Construction and the Quai aux Barques will be replaced by a wide, two-way 3.5 metre cycle path and an approximately 2 m rain water garden strip.
The redevelopment of the square is essential to revitalise the space and make it more attractive and functional for residents. By modernising the infrastructure and adding rest areas and a dog run, we're creating a friendly environment that encourages well-being, social gatherings and outdoor activities.
