'Missing Type' campaign of the Red Cross

From 11 to 18 June 2018, the Red Cross will once again participate in the 'Missing Type' campaign. The purpose of this campaign? The disappearance of the letters A, O and B, the three letters of the blood groups, from the urban and digital environment to increase the awareness of blood donation.

This campaign is intended to make the population aware of the importance of donating blood. Especially during the summer holidays the Red Cross is struggling with declining blood supplies. For the occasion, the locations for blood donation are exceptionally open on Saturday 16 June 2018 from 10 am to 5 pm.

What are the general conditions for giving blood?

  • Being healthy
  • Blood donation is permitted from the age of 18 up to and including the age of 70 (if your first donation was made before your 66th birthday and your last donation was less than 3 years old)
  • Weighing at least 50 kg
  • Not posing a risk of transferring blood-borne diseases
