Redevelopment of the Schuman roundabout

What is it about?

The Schuman roundabout and its surroundings will soon have a completely new look. This emblematic site in the European Quarter has been redesigned to make it a new place for people to live and pass through, which will make it possible to give breath to this crossroads by creating a sort of central pedestrian agora that will be overlooked by a planted canopy for organising events.

What purpose?

The Schuman roundabout, currently clogged with car traffic, will become a pedestrian promenade linking the Cinquantenaire Park and Rue de la Loi. The district's mobility plan will be adapted to make way for a zone reserved for active modes of transport. Car traffic will be maintained between the Avenue de Cortenbergh and the Rue de la Loi/Rue Archimède, while the north/south crossing of the roundabout will no longer be permitted.

The studies were carried out by Bruxelles Mobilité and Beliris will be responsible for carrying out the works from the last quarter of 2023. More info:
