Redevelopment works at the Brucity area

The project consists of the redesign of the area around the new Brucity building (Hallenstraat, Zwarte Lievevrouwstraat, Visverkopersstraat, Augustijnenstraat, and parts of Kiekenmarkt, Lakensestraat, Sint-Katelijneplein, and Bisschopsstraat) with the aim of better connecting the different neighbourhoods and creating a homogeneous whole.

The entire project will take 1.5 years. These works are divided into several phases:

Junction between the Rue de Laeken and Rue des Augustins

On 26 February 2024, works will begin on the redevelopment of the junction between the Rue de Laeken and Rue des Augustins. This phase of the works is scheduled to last one month, subject to favourable weather conditions.

Accessibility

Access for pedestrians, cyclists, people with reduced mobility and access to shops and homes will be guaranteed throughout the works.

The Rue de Laeken will be temporarily blocked off at the junction with the Rue des Augustins and will no longer be accessible via the Rue des Augustins. From the Rue du Fossé aux Loups-Rue des Augustins, only the loop around the former Philips Tower (Multi Tower) towards the Rue de l'Evêque will still be possible via a temporary passageway created to allow traffic to continue along the façade of the Multi Tower on the Rue de Laeken side.

The Rue de la Vierge Noire will remain accessible via the Rue du Fossé aux Loups. The Rue de l'Evêque and Rue de la Vierge Noire will also remain accessible via the Place Sainte-Catherine.

The Interparking car parks on the Rue des Augustins and Rue de l'Evêque will remain accessible as at present via the Rue du Fossé aux Loups.

The route of bus line 46 will be changed. Further information: External site STIB. The southern part of route 46 will continue to be diverted and the northern diversion will be temporarily suspended. Bus line 88 is a local alternative in the area.
