Redevelopment works at the Brucity area
The project consists of the redesign of the area around the new Brucity building (Hallenstraat, Zwarte Lievevrouwstraat, Visverkopersstraat, Augustijnenstraat, and parts of Kiekenmarkt, Lakensestraat, Sint-Katelijneplein, and Bisschopsstraat) with the aim of better connecting the different neighbourhoods and creating a homogeneous whole.
The entire project will take 1.5 years. These works are divided into several phases:

Rue des Poissonniers
Since 22 May 2023, the contractor has begun works on the odd pavement and central lane of the Rue des Poissonniers (between Rue Orts and Rue Devaux). The works consist of dismantling the existing pavement, laying stabilised concrete and sub-base, preparing for the bus stop facilities, and finally paving. These works are scheduled to last 35 working days and should be completed before the July building holidays, subject to favourable weather conditions.
Further phases of works are planned until the end of the year and will be announced at a later date.
Accessibility
Pedestrians, cyclists, people with reduced mobility and access to shops and homes will be guaranteed throughout the works.
Traffic will be interrupted at the Rue des Poissonniers (between Rue Orts and Rue Devaux). The Rue de la Vierge Noire will only be accessible for local traffic (access for residents and deliveries).
Deliveries (between 4 am and 11 am):
- Access to the Boulevard Anspach and Rue Paul Devaux via the Rue du Marché aux Poulets
- Access to the Rue Sainte-Catherine via the Rue de la Vierge Noire until mid-May, subject to favourable weather conditions. Then access via the Rue du Vieux Marché aux Grains.
