By 2033, all homes in Brussels must achieve at least energy class E. This corresponds to the EPB 275 target (Energy Performance and Indoor Climate of Buildings): a maximum of 275 kWh/m²/year. Classes F and G will therefore no longer be permitted.
The first mandatory improvement in energy class also yields the most in terms of savings, thermal comfort and quality of life in the home.
Energy label C in 2046
Do you own a building with class D or E? Then you should know that by 2046, all homes must have an energy label C (or better), which corresponds to an EPB 150 target. However, in certain cases, exceptions are possible for this second energy class improvement, such as technical or urban planning restrictions, disproportionately high costs, or low actual consumption by the owner-occupier,...
Also bear in mind that the current and temporary suspension of regional renovation grants is causing delays in the construction sector. This gives you some time to study and refine your renovation project.
