The Sterreket project now supplies the day-care centres of the City of Brussels with fruit and vegetables as healthy snacks. This is possible in the short chain thanks to the production in the City's greenhouses in Sterrebeek.
Two gardeners are currently working part-time at the greenhouses to grow fruit and vegetables. An orchard with 100 apple and pear trees is now an eco-pasture with 5 sheep.
Thanks to Sterreket, the day-care centres already received cucumbers, radishes and carrots, and soon tomatoes, peppers and strawberries will be added.
The project is in line with the food goals of the City's Climate Plan. It became possible thanks to an agreement with External siteLes Cuisines Bruxelloises and the External siteFarm of the Maximilian Park and the cooperation with External siteBruxelles Environnement.
