Street art murals at the Van der Weyden Tunnel

New murals have been added to the Street Art Trail at the Van der Weyden Tunnel in the Stalingrad quarter. These murals are the work of students from the secondary school of the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts (ARBA).

Eleven new murals have been added to the External site Street Art Trail of the City of Brussels. They have been created by 27 pupils (and their teachers) from two classes of the 4th secondary school (art section) and a preparatory class for higher art education.

Theme of the school

The aim of the project was twofold: to (re)motivate the pupils after the constraints of the health crisis by a project outside, linked to art, and to beautify the public space. The imposed theme was the school.

The subjects chosen were very varied: stress, representations and models of the pupils referring to great artists: Boticelli/Van Gogh/Banksy, the values that the City promotes in its education (such as tolerance and respect for diversity), the 'Black Life Matter' movements, the defence of LGBTQIA+ rights,...
