Vaccination

Vaccination is an essential means of lifelong prevention against infectious diseases. It protects you and others, and prevents the re-emergence of dangerous diseases.

Compulsory polio vaccination

In Belgium, only the polio (poliomyelitis) vaccine is compulsory before the age of 18 months.

Once the polio vaccine has been administered, parents are required to submit the vaccination certificate to their municipality of residence:

Other vaccinations

Other vaccinations, such as those against diphtheria, tetanus and hepatitis, are recommended to ensure complete protection.

The vaccination schedule indicates which vaccines are recommended according to age.

There are slight differences between the schedules of the two Communities. Both are valid in the Brussels Region:

French Community:

Flemish Community:
