The City of Brussels is taking part in World Cleanup Day on Saturday 20 September 2025. 

Meet the Cleaning Service teams, test their vehicles, take part in games and join in a waste collection!

For the occasion, Manneken Pis will be wearing his street sweeper costume, on Friday 19 September from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturday 20 September from 9 am to 12 pm. Jeanneke-Pis will also be taking part for the first time on 20 September, with a backdrop dedicated to public cleaning.

This year, a Cleanup Village will again be organised on the Place De Brouckère, by the Regional Waste Management Agency 'Bruxelles Propreté' and the Cleaning Service of the City.

On the programme (from 11 am to 5 pm): entertainment, children's games, upcycling parade, concerts, awareness-raising stands on public cleaning, waste collection (cleanups), foodtrucks, testing of vehicles,... 

And between 5:30 pm and 8 pm, there will be a closing party with an award ceremony and a concert.

Brussels Clean Festival

In addition to the Cleanup Village, the road sweepers of the Cleaning Service will be present at several other locations.

You will have the chance to meet them over a drink, test cleaning machines and vehicles, take part in a cleaning quiz and take part in a litter pick between 11 am and 5 pm. 

Equipment will be provided on site (waste grippers, gloves, bags, vests).

  • Laeken: at the centre of the Square Prince Léopold - 1020 Brussels (in front of the community centre)

  • Neder-Over-Heembeek: Place Peter Benoit - 1120 Brussels (big cleaning vehicle test)
  • Haren: Rue de Cortenbach 11 - 1130 Brussels (in front of the community centre)
  • Bois de la Cambre: crossing of the Avenue de l'Orée and Avenue de Flore - 1000 Brussels
