Photos of the liberation of Brussels
On the evening of 3 September 1944, Brussels was liberated. The situation had been confused for several days. The city was in turmoil. Photographs and documents from that period paint a picture of those hectic days. The war was not over, but the vast majority of the population was overjoyed and celebrated the Belgian and Allied soldiers who came to liberate the city.
