Climate Plan - Governance

Climate Plan - Governance

The City of Brussels has supported the creation of a network of players with the aim of facilitating and accelerating the climate and environmental transition of its territory: the A.C.T Brussels network (Climate Transition Action).

This network plays an important role in the fight against global warming and the protection of our biodiversity. All companies, organisations, associations or neighbourhood committees with a concrete commitment in this direction count.

These links and exchanges between diverse and complementary players help accelerate the territory's ecological transition and ensure that it is as fair and equitable as possible.

By participating in the network, each organisation strengthens its capacity to change, adapt and build resilience.

The network mobilises and unites a wide range of stakeholders:

  • Resident representatives
  • Associations involved in environmental initiatives
  • Companies and traders
  • Research and educational institutions
  • Public sector players

A number of partners are currently participating in the operation of the network, in all action areas of the Climate Plan.

The various meetings, workshops and events held throughout the year have the following aims:

  • Encourage exchanges, contacts and knowledge sharing between players (good practices, solutions, experiences,...)
  • Provide opportunities to pool resources (material, intellectual,...)
  • Facilitate and expand existing projects
  • Encourage the launch of new projects, partnerships and synergies
  • Increase the visibility of existing projects
  • Organise exchanges between the City of Brussels and its territory (about requests for clarification, submitting collective requests, discussing solutions,...)

To find concrete solutions that take into account the realities of its population, the City of Brussels organised a wide-ranging participatory process in 2021: almost 700 citizens worked in 46 meetings and workshops, giving rise to more than 300 ideas for action, which were then integrated by experts within the municipality into the Climate Plan.
