Climate Plan - Governance

Climate Plan - Governance

Lightening climate change and adapting to its effects requires the active participation of everyone: City departments and staff, businesses, associations and the general public.

This is why the Climate Plan includes a chapter dedicated to its (own) governance of the Plan in order to:

  • Raise awareness, educate and train people in climate issues
  • Promote innovative ideas and initiatives
  • Develop a network of local climate ambassadors
  • Work together to implement the measures in the Climate Plan

Main objectives for governance

Targets for 2030:

  • 1 assembly to follow up and monitor the actions of the Climate Plan
  • Increase in budgets and projects supported under the Call for Climate Projects
  • Questioning young people on the actions to be implemented for the climate

For the municipality:

  • Participating in the exchange of best practice with Belgian and international cities
  • Adapting green incentives to meet climate challenges

For all the people of Brussels:

  • Setting up the Local Climate Assembly
  • Creating the Future Generations Council
  • Extending the Climate Plan call for projects period throughout the year

A Local Climate Assembly will be set up to steer and monitor the area's climate objectives. It will also ensure that the momentum is amplified by developing the action plan and bringing together as many players as possible around the climate objectives.
