What is it about?
The De Mot-Couvreur school, located at the Place du Nouveau Marché aux Grains, has a strategic location in an area that is both dynamic and full of contrasts. This provides a context that is conducive to its development and integration into the local environment.

As part of the School Contract 2022-2026 programme, set up by the Region, the renovation project aims to enhance the urban integration of the schools. It does so by encouraging the sharing of their spaces (sports halls, meeting rooms,...) for the benefit of local associations and residents. Thanks to this initiative, the project benefits from specific subsidies to support its execution.
The school, which welcomes more than 650 students every day in a wide range of subjects, stands out for its commitment to offering a varied, high-quality education.
The school would now like to renovate certain areas on the ground floor, in particular the auditorium and sports hall, and open them up to the public. Currently poorly equipped, faded and largely underused, these rooms no longer meet current standards, particularly in terms of ventilation, accessibility and fire safety.
Modernisation of the spaces and direct access from the Rue du Rempart des Moines helps to meet the goals of the School Contract.
What purpose?
This project meets the following ambitions and objectives:
- Address the lack of public, sports and cultural facilities
- Rationalising the management and use of community sites by applying the concept of 'chrono-urbanism' (expanding the uses of a site over time)
- Favouring the reconcentration of city spaces and services within multi-purpose, shared neighbourhood facility hubs
