Dog toilets and zones

Dog toilets and zones

Dog toilets and off-leash zones are available for your dog in the City of Brussels.

Dog toilets

It is forbidden to let your dog defecate on public roads (including in gutters).

The owners of dogs always have to have at least 1 bag intended to collect accidental excrement of their dogs (Art. 115 of the General Police Regulations of the City of Brussels).

In case of infraction, a fine is possible.

Nevertheless, the City of Brussels has a network of dog toilets on its territory.

Dog zones

The General Police Regulations state that dogs must be kept on a lead in public spaces. However, dogs also need freedom for their physical and mental well-being. That is why the City has created zones where dogs can run free.

These areas are called 'Dogzones'. They offer dogs the opportunity to run and play freely, explore their surroundings, sniff around and socialise with other dogs without the restriction of a lead.
