Enjoy BXL and the City of Brussels are investing in terraces and squares in shopping districts to bring a festive atmosphere, music and a sense of community to these areas.
Free events open to all will bring the city to life from May to July. Concerts, jazz, open-air cafés in the Marolles, family picnics and festive after-work gatherings.
Place de la Vieille Halle aux Blés
When? Every Friday, from 8 May to 5 June 2026, from 4 pm to 7 pm.
The square comes alive to the rhythm of jazz and blues, with the participation of students from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Place de la Liberté
When? Five Sundays, from 21 June 2026, from noon to 4 pm.
On the programme: creative workshops, storytelling, board games, picnics and gourmet treasure hunts.
Place de l'Épée & Place du Jeu de Balle
In the Marolles, the atmosphere is divided into two highlights. The special lights at the Place de l'Épée provide an intimate setting perfect for sipping cocktails, at the foot of the Ferris Wheel on the Place Poelaert.
Meanwhile, on the initiative of local shopkeepers, the Place du Jeu de Balle is hosting the 3rd edition of the 'Guinguettes des Marolles'. Every Thursday evening, a large communal terrace will be set up on the square, featuring concerts, dance workshops and games.
