On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Association of French-language Archivists of Belgium, the Archives of the City of Brussels exceptionally open their doors.

With exceptionally rare works from the Middle Ages, a collection of more than 35,000 prints, posters, engravings and photographs, and countless old and recent maps and plans, this is one of the largest archives in Belgium.

And who better to guide visitors through its impressive collections than the staff members themselves who work there every day? For this special occasion, they uncover some real gems from more than 30 km of paper documents and explain the fundamental role archiving plays in a democracy.

Guided tours

The archives can only be visited during scheduled tours:

  • From 10 am every 30 minutes (Dutch-language tours every hour).
  • Last admission at 4 pm.
  • Price: free admission and guided tour.
