Coronavirus measures

The City of Brussels has taken several decisions in order to best respect the measures of the federal government in the fight against the coronavirus (Covid-19). More info: coronavirus measures by the City of Brussels.

Swimming pools

The City of Brussels has 3 public swimming pools: the swimming pool of the Centre, the swimming pool of Laeken and the swimming pool of Neder-Over-Heembeek.

Coronavirus measures: the swimming pools of the Centre, Laeken and Neder-Over-Heembeek are open.

Measures for the public

The National Security Council has imposed health measures to combat Covid-19. Therefore, special measures are in force:

  • Booking is required. Swimmers who have not reserved, cannot access the pool. You can book online (up to 3 weeks in advance):
  • This reservation makes it possible, on the one hand, to ensure compliance with sanitary and hygienic measures imposed by the Security Council and, on the other hand, to manage flows by avoiding meetings both at the entrance and within the infrastructure.
  • Only the large pools are accessible to swimmers at this stage. The small pools for families require additional measures that are currently being studied.
  • Swimming time is limited to a maximum of 60 minutes per session.
  • The number of swimmers is set at 4 per lane.
  • The dressing rooms and lockers are accessible. They are immediately disinfected after each use.
  • Payment is now possible electronically and without contact at the cash registers of the swimming pools

To ensure compliance with these rules as much as possible, all employees of the 'Bains de Bruxelles' association have followed specific training (first aid, cleaning and disinfection) to welcome the inhabitants of Brussels in the most hygienic and safe conditions.

Clubs, courses and schools

The City of Brussels first focused on organizing access for the general public. To guarantee this first reopening, the return of the (sports) clubs (during the day and in the evening) is postponed. However, everything is done by the Sports Service of the City of Brussels to organize the return of the various clubs as soon as possible, in close consultation with them and in strict compliance with the health measures.
