The City of Brussels and Bruxelles Mobilité are installing bollards on the Rue de la Poudrière. The works will start on Tuesday 14 April 2026.
What's changing?
The southern section of the Rue de la Poudrière is becoming a cul-de-sac. This affects numbers 68, 70, 72, 72A, 74, 76 and 78.
The concrete blocks on the small square will be removed.
The northern section of the street will remain accessible.
Why these changes?
They respond to requests from the neighbourhood and will:
- prevent through traffic (vehicles passing without stopping)
- free up space in front of the Institut Jeanne Toussaint (on the Boulevard de l'Abattoir side)
- improve road safety and comfort for pedestrians, particularly for pupils travelling between the Jeanne Toussaint Institute and the Arts et Métiers campus
- showcase the Institute's listed building to better effect
