What is it about?
At the intersection of the Rue de Beyseghem and Donderberg, the City of Brussels plans to redevelop the area to strengthen the green corridor. It will become an ecological route for active mobility connecting the Versailles district to the Neder-Over-Heembeek sports centre and the Van Praet ZIR.

This development project is part of the Versailles sustainable district contract 2022-2027, a joint initiative between the Brussels-Capital Region and the City of Brussels, aimed at improving the living environment of neighborhoods by redeveloping public spaces, developing real estate projects, and supporting socio-economic initiatives.
In an area housing several schools, the redesign of the public space, which extends towards the future multipurpose facility, aims to promote soft mobility by improving space sharing, while reinforcing the green network linking the north and south of the green corridor through high-quality landscaping.
This project will also take into account the management of runoff water and the flood risks inherent to this street, which follows the path of an old river.
What purpose?
This project meets the following ambitions and objectives:
- To improve the safety and quality of public spaces for the purposes of living and environmental resilience
- To develop a strategy to reduce soil sealing in the City of Brussels and make its public spaces greener
- To rebalance and diversify the uses of public spaces
- To develop the green network as a support for active transport methods and biodiversity
- To ensure accessibility to all modes of transport for people with reduced mobility
