What is it about?
Located at the foot of the tall residential towers of the 'Logement Bruxellois', in the heart of the Versailles neighborhood, the famous 'red track' remains a vivid memory for many residents who learned to ride a bike there.

This renovation project is part of the Versailles sustainable district contract 2022–2027, a joint initiative between the Brussels-Capital Region and the City of Brussels. It aims to enhance the quality of life in the neighborhood by redesigning public spaces, developing real estate projects, and supporting socio-economic initiatives.
The main goal of the project is to breathe new life into this recreational area, making it accessible to a wider public and promoting cycling as an alternative means of transport. This includes the rehabilitation - and possible extension - of the red track, as well as its reconnection to the park's pathways.
The project also focuses on safety and the creation of a convivial space for adults accompanying children, with new lighting and furniture.
Additionally, elements of the traffic code - such as mock intersections, pedestrian crossings, and other educational features - will be incorporated to help children learn how to ride safely.
The overall goal is to promote both cycling education and practice, while encouraging a modal shift toward daily bike use.
What purpose?
This project meets the following ambitions and objectives:
- To respond to the lack of outdoor sports grounds and play areas
- To rebalance and diversify the uses of public spaces
- To incorporate inclusiveness criteria into public spaces from the design stage
