Climate Plan call for projects 2026

Climate Plan call for projects 2026

The City of Brussels supports initiatives that promote the climate transition on its territory. Submit your project between 1 May and 31 August 2026.

The Climate Plan of the City of Brussels sets out clear and ambitious objectives for its territory:

  • reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030
  • achieve carbon neutrality by 2050
  • strengthen the territory's resilience to climate change

As part of this plan, the City supports projects led by Brussels-based players every year through the Climate Plan call for projects.

This year, the City of Brussels is supporting local initiatives that make shared spaces more pleasant during periods of hot weather.

Projects could, for example:

  • Create shade in a courtyard, block of flats or communal space
  • Introduce greenery to provide cooling
  • Use water as a cooling element (rain garden, educational pond, simple installations)
  • Install furniture or make minor alterations that promote cooling
  • Test a prototype or innovative idea, whether low-tech or high-tech, that tangibly improves the living environment
  • Propose an artistic project combined with a practical or educational installation

Don't have any ideas to get started? An inspiration document is available to help you come up with practical and tailored actions for your space:

If your project does not fit within the 'Refreshing Brussels' theme, but does contribute to the City's climate objectives, you can still submit it.

The Climate Plan call for projects supports initiatives in the following areas:

  • Renovation and energy
  • Nature and biodiversity
  • Mobility and air quality
  • Water
  • Waste and raw materials
  • Sustainable food and urban agriculture
  • Economic and solidarity-based transition
  • Events, culture and tourism
  • Children, young people and awareness-raising

Please note: projects must be feasible without the need for a town planning permit.

The call for projects is open to any organisation or individual wishing to take local action on climate change.

A project may be submitted by:

  • A natural person who is of age and legal capacity
  • An association: a residents' group, a neighbourhood committee, a parent committee,...
  • A legal entity (non-profit organisation)
  • An educational institution or childcare
  • An SME

Condition: you must be domiciled or have your registered office within the territory of the City of Brussels.

Depending on the category of your project, the grants amount to 40,000 euros.

Submit your project between 1 May and 31 August 2026. Complete the application form and send it to:

projetclimat@brucity.be

Or by post to the Climate and City in Transition Service (Rue des Halles 4 - 1000 Brussels).

The form and regulations are only available in Dutch and French.
