The City of Brussels is a city of youth. It counts more than 42,000 children under the age of 17 living within its borders, as well as around a hundred nurseries, kindergartens and primary schools, more than 30 secondary schools, universities, colleges and arts establishments.
The Climate Plan devotes a specific section to them in order to:
- Protect them from health risks
- Raise their awareness and mobilise them to become partners in the fight against climate change
- Welcoming them to exemplary locations and reinforcing the sharing of knowledge between those who work there
Targets for 2030:
- 100% of the City's nurseries use washable nappies
- 100% of food for children is organic, local and in season
- 0 PMC in the regular activities of schools and crèches
