New parking plan

On 24 June 2025, the municipal parking regulations were changed.

The City of Brussels introduced several measures that will benefit residents and neighbourhood life:

  • 20 minutes of free parking at the parking meters: to allow short-term parking (shopping, local trade)
  • Adapted parking times tailored to local realities:
    • Paid parking until 7 pm in residential areas
    • Maintenance of paid parking until 9 pm in zones with a lot of activity (Pentagon, Louise quarter, Heysel)
  • Doubling the number of free visitor tickets (from 10 to 20 per year): to facilitate welcoming family and friends at home.
Currently, each resident has 100 visitor tickets per year, of which the first 10 are free. This measure increases this number to 20 free tickets.
Please note: as this decision is taken mid-year and some users have already (partly) used up their tickets, the start is postponed to 1 January 2026. This will ensure equal treatment for all beneficiaries.

Two important novelties in the regulations:

  • Official introduction of the 'caregiver card': until now, this card was granted occasionally on the basis of informal criteria. From now on, it will be officially recognised with clear conditions. This is an important social advance that recognises and supports informal carers in concrete terms.
  • Consultation with neighbouring municipalities: with the aim of better aligning parking rules in neighbouring zones.

Since 1 July 2025, the price of a bicycle box subscription went from 10 to 15 euros per year. That is the price of a resident card for a first car. Would you like a place in a bicycle box? Then go to External siteCycloparking.

Anyone who already has a bicycle box subscription on the territory of the City of Brussels does not have to do anything: your invoice will be adjusted.
