Non-EU foreigner - Legalisation of a formal obligation
Annex 3bis:
A third-country national who wishes to travel to a Schengen member state, in this case Belgium, must have sufficient means of subsistence or present a 'commitment to take charge' (formal obligation) signed by a solvent person (the guarantor), established in Belgium. This guarantor must have the undertaking to take charge legalised by the municipal administration of his or her place of residence.
Annex 32:
Third-country nationals who wish to follow higher education studies in a higher education institution in Belgium and third-country nationals who, after completing their studies, apply for permission to extend their stay in order to find a job or start a business, must prove that they have sufficient personal means of subsistence. Proof of sufficient means of subsistence may be provided by producing a sponsorship undertaking in accordance with Annex 32. - Proof of financial means: a copy of your last 3 payslips (employee), your latest tax assessment (self-employed), or last 3 bank account statements (pensioner or similar)

- Proof of family relationship (legalised documents) if you are not Belgian, nor a foreigner admitted or authorised to reside for an unlimited period of time in Belgium/another EU Member State, but a family member up to the third degree of the third-country national being cared for
- Proof of means of subsistence: a copy of the last 3 payslips (employee), the last roll statement (self-employed) or the last account statements (pensioner or equivalent)
