Three-star Ecodynamic Organisation Label for Brucity

Three-star Ecodynamic Organisation Label for Brucity

The Brucity Administrative Centre of the City of Brussels has been awarded the three-star label of Ecodynamic Organisation by Bruxelles Environnement.

In response to current environmental issues, the City administration is committed to applying the principles of sustainability in its policies and daily work. Since 2022, Brucity is a prime example of this commitment.

Energy efficiency and sustainable management

Brucity was designed to meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and sustainable management. Among other things, Brucity has:

  • an innovative riothermal air-conditioning system: the building can be cooled through the ceilings with sewage water instead of traditional air conditioners
  • a large tank to collect rainwater used for flushing the toilets
  • solar panels
  • a green roof

Other sustainable solutions

The City of Brussels also continues its efforts to promote active mobility. And it is making efforts to set an example in terms of waste reduction, such as the use of reusable trays, cups,...

In collaboration with partner i-CITY, its IT department, the City ensures that technological advances are consistent with its environmental objectives. It does this by introducing sustainable solutions in its various administrative services.

The City also takes sustainability aspects into account when awarding its public contracts, in particular by gradually integrating environmental criteria to encourage a more circular economy.

Last but not least, its Climate Plan clearly shows that the City is addressing climate challenges in concrete terms.
