In 2024, tiger mosquitoes were reported in 21 municipalities in Belgium, including the City of Brussels for the first time. With the start of the mosquito season, Sciensano and the Institute of Tropical Medicine are again calling on citizens to remain vigilant for the rapidly spreading tiger mosquito.
The results of 3 years of monitoring clearly show that the tiger mosquito is not only entering and spreading in Belgium, but is starting to establish itself here.
