Authorisation for a place on a market

The City of Brussels organises some fifteen open-air markets. Some have food products or second-hand items and others are more arts-focused.

There are two ways to occupy a place on a market:

  • by subscription: this gives access to a dedicated, fixed place and a reduced rate. Applications may be submitted to the Trade Department following a vacancy notice or at any other time.
  • on a daily basis: on presentation of an administrative declaration issued in advance by the Trade Department, places are allocated by drawing lots as soon as the market officially opens.

The City regularly publishes holiday notices for its markets. The list of current notices and application deadlines is available at Markets of the City of Brussels.

For the Agora market, an application must be presented to a judging panel.

By appointment, at the counter of the Administrative Centre of the City of Brussels, to be booked online
