Bonus for a young cyclist 16-18 years

Bonus for a young cyclist 16-18 years

Are you between 16 and 18, or are you parent/guardian of a young person between 16 and 18? As part of the Climate Plan, the City of Brussels will soon be able to help you with its new bonus for young cyclists to support them and/or their parents in bicycle expenses.

Whether it's to buy a new bike, maintain a second-hand bike or one you already own, or to give the young cyclist better equipment (lock, lights, helmet), the premium will reimburse 30% to 100% of the cost per young person who has obtained a driving licence for traffic on public roads and/or is enrolled in the free bike training (4 hours) organised by Bravvo and the Brussels Capital Ixelles police as part of the young cyclist bonus.

  • Young cyclist and parent are domiciled in the City of Brussels
  • The young cyclist is between 16 and 18 years old
  • The young person is registered for cycling training (unless he/she already has a valid licence)
  • Only expenses incurred in the last 6 months and expenses related to article 4 of the regulations are eligible
  • When submitting the premium application, the bicycle must have an identification sticker registered on the External siteMybike.belgium.be platform. More info about bicycle theft (prevention, registration,...): Bicycle.

In any case, the total amount of the bonus is limited to 300 euros per young cyclist.

This premium can only be applied for once by a beneficiary young person.

For low-income families and/or where one of the members has BIM status, the intervention is increased for the expenses mentioned in Article 4 ยงยง 1 and 3. However, the total amount of the premium remains limited to 300 euros per young cyclist.

  • Enrol the young person in cycle training (if necessary) via the Bravvo website
  • Complete the municipal premium application form (2.13 MB) and send it, along with the required documents, to urb.primes@brucity.be within 3 months of the last expenses
