Certificate of life
The certificate of life attests that a person is alive. It can in particular be claimed during procedures related to the pension.

Living on the territory of the City of Brussels.
How to apply?
- Online via MyBXL
- On terminals at the Administrative Centre, the liaison offices and our partners
If you do not have an electronic ID card or residence card:
- At the counter

- Free
- 20 euros for the legalization if the document is to be used abroad (outside the European Union)
Waiting period
If the certificate is to be used in Belgium: immediately.
If the certificate is to be used abroad (outside the member states of the European Union): 5 working days. In this case, the City is responsible for requesting its legalization from the Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs.
